How to convert seconds to minutes
minutes = seconds ÷ 60
The second is the SI base unit of time. 1 minute is exactly 60 seconds.
Dividing by 60 is exact. Written as a multiplication the factor is a repeating decimal, 1 s = 0.01666666666667… min, so a rounded multiplier such as 0.01667 is slightly off. This converter keeps the exact fraction (1/60) and rounds only the result it shows.
Worked example: 125 s
- Start with the value in seconds: 125 s.
- Divide by 60, because 1 minute = 60 seconds: 125 ÷ 60 = 2.083333333….
- Round to the precision you need: 2.08 min to two decimals.
- In minutes and seconds: 2 min 5 s.

Is the s to min conversion exact?
The relationship is exact (1 min = 60 s), but 1 ÷ 60 is a repeating decimal, 0.01666666667…. The converter works with the exact fraction and rounds only the displayed result, so it does not pick up the small error a rounded multiplier would cause.
How do I read the result in minutes and seconds?
The line under the result splits it for you: the whole minutes stay as they are and the decimal part is converted to seconds. For example, 125 s is 2 min 5 s.
