How to convert minutes to hours
hours = minutes ÷ 60
1 minute is exactly 60 seconds. 1 hour is exactly 3,600 seconds (60 minutes).
Dividing by 60 is exact. Written as a multiplication the factor is a repeating decimal, 1 min = 0.01666666666667… h, so a rounded multiplier such as 0.01667 is slightly off. This converter keeps the exact fraction (1/60) and rounds only the result it shows.
Worked example: 135 min
- Start with the value in minutes: 135 min.
- Divide by 60, because 1 hour = 60 minutes: 135 ÷ 60 = 2.25 h.
- In hours and minutes: 2 h 15 min.
