How to convert millimeters to centimeters

centimeters = millimeters ÷ 10

1 millimeter is one thousandth of a meter (SI prefix milli, 10⁻³). 1 centimeter is one hundredth of a meter (SI prefix centi, 10⁻²).

The factor is exact in both directions: 1 mm = 0.1 cm and 1 cm = 10 mm. Nothing is rounded until you choose how many decimals to show.

Worked example: 25 mm

1. Start with the value in millimeters: 25 mm.
2. Divide by 10, because 1 centimeter = 10 millimeters: 25 ÷ 10 = 2.5 cm.
