How to convert centimeters to meters

meters = centimeters ÷ 100

1 centimeter is one hundredth of a meter (SI prefix centi, 10⁻²). The meter is the SI base unit of length.

The factor is exact in both directions: 1 cm = 0.01 m and 1 m = 100 cm. Nothing is rounded until you choose how many decimals to show.

Worked example: 175 cm

1. Start with the value in centimeters: 175 cm.
2. Divide by 100, because 1 meter = 100 centimeters: 175 ÷ 100 = 1.75 m.
