Meet the Simple ZIP Converter

Select a file to convert:

What actually happens to your file

This tool builds a ZIP archive entirely in your browser: it reads the selected file with FileReader, wraps the raw bytes in a minimal ZIP container (local file header, central directory, end-of-central-directory record), and offers the result as a downloadable Blob. Nothing is uploaded to a server — the file never leaves your device.

No compression is applied

The archive stores your file's bytes as-is (ZIP "store" method) rather than compressing them with DEFLATE, the algorithm most ZIP tools use. That means the output file will be roughly the same size as the input, plus about 100 bytes of ZIP header overhead — a 2 MB input produces roughly a 2 MB archive, not a smaller one. If you need actual size reduction, use a compression-capable tool (7-Zip, WinZip, or a system "Compress" option).

The CRC-32 checksum is a placeholder

ZIP archives normally embed a CRC-32 checksum of each file so extraction tools can verify the data wasn't corrupted. This converter writes a fixed zero value in that field rather than computing the real checksum from your file's contents. Most unzip tools will still extract the file correctly, but any tool that strictly validates the CRC during extraction may report an error or warning even though the underlying bytes are intact.

Single file, any type

You can zip any file type — images, PDFs, text, video — since the tool treats the content as a raw byte array rather than parsing it. It packages exactly one file per archive; it does not support selecting multiple files or folders into a single ZIP.
