The Math

This is the inverse of the liters-to-milliliters conversion: divide by 1000. Enter 750 milliliters (a standard wine bottle) and you get 0.75 liters; enter 330 milliliters (a soda can) and you get 0.33 liters.

No Rounding

The result isn't passed through toFixed(), so it displays exactly what the division produces — 100 milliliters becomes 0.1 liters (not 0.10), and an input like 333 milliliters returns 0.333 liters with the full decimal intact.

A teaspoon is about 5 mL (0.005 L), a tablespoon about 15 mL (0.015 L), and a standard US cup is 236.588 mL (0.236588 L) — the same figure this site's cups-to-milliliters converter uses, just applied in reverse.
