Height Generator: Get Your Random Height

How the range and randomization work

The generator picks a whole number of inches between 48 (4'0") and 84 (7'0") inclusive, using Math.floor(Math.random() * (84 - 48 + 1)) + 48. That total is then split into feet and inches (feet = Math.floor(totalInches / 12), inches = totalInches % 12) and separately converted to centimeters by multiplying the total inches by 2.54, rounded to the nearest whole centimeter.

Worked example

If the random draw lands on 67 total inches: feet = Math.floor(67/12) = 5, inches = 67%12 = 7, so the display reads "5'7"". The centimeter figure is 67 × 2.54 = 170.18, rounded to 170 cm.

What the range covers

4'0" (122 cm) to 7'0" (213 cm) spans well outside typical adult height distributions — adult heights mostly cluster between about 5'0" and 6'2" — so this generator is built for producing an arbitrary test value, not for modeling realistic population height statistics. Every value in the range has equal probability; it is not weighted toward common heights.

What this is useful for

Populating placeholder data for forms or test fixtures, quick unit-conversion sanity checks (comparing the feet/inches and centimeter output side by side), or generating a random figure for games and icebreakers.
